Mission
The IRMXA is committed to providing a safe, fun and
competitive motocross racing experience for riders of all ages and all
skill levels.
We have classes for riders as young as 4, to as old as dirt. Skill
levels vary from first time racers (both kids and adults), to high
flying Pro A racers. We believe the IRMXA is a great place to get
started racing, or get back into racing. Here are just a few of the
reasons why:
- We welcome first-time racers, both kids and adults, and love sharing our passion for the sport.
- We have racers from across Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Canada – there is no such thing as an “outsider” at the IRMXA.
- We are not as large and intimidating as some of the District events, but we believe in good, competitive racing.
- We offer a wide range of Classes for all ages and all skill levels, and believe racing is a great family activity.
- We believe in operating an efficient, well-run Association, and are committed to the satisfaction of our racers.
- We are committed to the safety of our racers, our spectators, and our staff.
- And, we believe in having a whole lot of fun.

The Association
The IRMXA was organized in 2000 by Loren
Wicklund. His vision was to establish a safe, family-friendly
environment for competitive, organized motocross racing. The
Association was run by Tony Polkoski from 2004-2007. In 2008, the
Association was purchased by Ed and Jackie McKillip. The McKillip’s
have been long time supporters of the IRMXA, operating the Wanna Ride
booth at the races for a number of years.
Although this is their first year, Ed and Jackie are working
aggressively to make the 2008 season the best yet. Supporting them in
this effort, Loren Wicklund is serving as an invaluable resource for
answering questions and brainstorming ideas.
Operating Costs
Operating costs at a motocross track can be very significant, and many
of them have seen dramatic increases over the past several years. Did
you know that for a ten race series:
- The cost of safety, including insurance, on-site ambulance and staff, and track workers typically runs close to $30,000.
- The special features of race day, such as a professional announcer and trophies, cost around $20,000.
- The cost of basic services, including track preparation and bathroom facilities, total around $20,000.
And, these are just some of the many cost associated with operating a racing circuit.
Funding the Association
Membership fees, race fees and
admission fees are a key component in funding the operation of the
Association. The IRMXA also seeks out area businesses to sponsor the
IRMXA. Their contributions directly defray the costs paid by our racers
and allow us to keep our fees low and our services high. Thank you
sponsors!
Racers are encouraged to support the IRMXA’s sponsorship efforts.
Racers who bring in cash sponsorships may be eligible to receive
discounts good toward race fees. Visit the
Sponsors page for more information.
